Apple has entered the wearable tech market with the Vision Pro, causing quite a stir! Priced at $3,499, this device is not your average gadget—it aims to change how we engage with technology through “spatial computing,” a concept Apple is pioneering. Essentially, it allows your apps to appear all around you in the physical world.
However, before getting too excited about the Vision Pro, it’s important to remember that there are other competitors in the field. Meta (formerly Facebook/Oculus) has been developing VR and AR headsets for some time now. Their quest line, for instance, has already garnered a following for its virtual reality capabilities.
While Apple has its own unique style and ecosystem, it’s not the sole player in the market. The Vision Pro must deliver a truly impressive experience and distinguish itself if it hopes to shine in the wearable tech industry. Let the competition begin! 🚀.
According to Kuo, it is expected that 250,000 Vision Pro units will be shipped to the US by the end of the year. Pre-orders made on January 19 had shipping times extending to early March initially. However, the production line has since increased its output, resulting in a significant improvement in shipping times. Currently, orders are being fulfilled within 3 to 5 days, indicating a good balance between supply and demand.
There were concerns initially that some buyers might return their Vision Pro within the 14-day window, viewing it as a temporary experience. Reports of users returning their devices for various reasons added to these concerns. However, Kuo’s recent analysis shows that the return rate has decreased to just 1%.
Despite rumors of a more affordable version of Vision Pro, Kuo states that Apple’s focus is on providing a high-quality, top-of-the-line AR experience, with no confirmation of a budget-friendly variant.
